How to create a location

Five short steps from "I have a great photo" to it sitting on the map, ready to be found by others.

1

Open "Share a photo"

Log in (it's free), and tap the green 📷 Share button at the bottom of the app.

No account yet? You'll be asked to create one the first time you tap Share — it takes under a minute.
2

Choose your photo

Click or drag a photo in. You can select several photos at once if they were taken in the same spot — they'll automatically be grouped so others can swipe between them.

If your photo has GPS data built in (most phone photos do), the app will automatically find the exact spot for you in the next step.
3

Confirm the location

The app suggests a location based on the photo's own GPS data. If it's not quite right — or missing — you can instead search for an address, use your current position, or click directly on the map.

If another user already has a photo very close by (under 25 metres), the app will ask you to pick a different spot — this keeps the map easy to browse and stops any one place getting overcrowded.
4

Write a title and description

Give your photo a short, clear title, and tell people a bit about the spot. Pick a category, and add a few tags if you like — it makes your photo easier to find later.

Want to flag how busy or quiet the spot usually is? It's optional, but a nice help for other visitors.
5

Tap "Share photo"

And you're live! Your photo lands straight away as a new find on the map — visible to everyone who visits the spot after you.

You can always edit or delete your photo later from "My content" in the menu.

Good to know

🖼️ Several photos, one spot

Uploaded more than one photo of the same place? They show up as a single card on the map, which you can swipe or click through with the arrows.

📍 Your location is exact

Photos are placed by GPS coordinates, not city or postcode — that's the whole point of Share the Location.

✏️ You stay in control

You can always edit the title, description and photos, or delete a post again, under "My content".
